Santa Cruz Warriors Basketball
About a year ago the City of Santa Cruz approved a large temporary basketball arena, now publicly known as the Kaiser Permanente Arena, to be constructed on Spruce Street. This was to become the home of the D-League basketball team, the Santa Cruz Warriors. In the beginning of the construction process there were many Santa Cruz residents that opposed to the arrival of the arena and the new basketball team, but I believe after having gone through the ups and downs of the inaugural season the Santa Cruz Warriors have brought a new life to the city.
The second season for the Santa Cruz Warriors is just about to tip-off, with the first game being on November 22nd against the Austin Toros. If you have not been to a game you ought to highly consider going. Grab a work buddy or even the family and enjoy an evening at some of the most enjoyable community events of the year. Some of you non-sports fans might be thinking, “why would I ever want to go to a basketball game”? What you have to understand is that its more than just a game of basketball. It is a gathering of community members, business owners, families, friends, athletes and more! Even if you aren’t a basketball fan, being under the same roof with the 5000 Santa Cruz Community members all cheering for the same thing is an amazing experience.
Concessions are provided by the Santa Cruz Seaside Company; including popcorn, Marini’s Candies, nachos, drinks and more. Half time shows are always fun. Last season half-time shows ranged from dancing to dunk squads, BMX tricks to X-Factor alumn Chris Rene performing…Im looking forward to the lineup of performances this year. They also have plenty of Santa Cruz Warriors merchandise to grab at the games for all of you true fans. Can’t find what you are looking for? They have a wide variety of merch right down the street at their headquarters on Pacific Ave.
Have I convinced you yet? Wondering what this season’s schedule is and where to buy tickets?
There are 2 ways:
Way #1: go to www.santacruzbasketball.com and purchase single game or season tickets. you can also find a season schedule on their site.
Way #2: The Santa Cruz Warriors have partnered with Grind Out Hunger as their charity of choice. Grind Out Hunger has their own 60 seat section in the arena. If you buy tickets from that section 100% of the money from those ticket sales goes to benefit the cause. You can buy those tickets at www.grindouthunger.org/warriorstickets Grind Out Hunger section seats are limited, so if you want to sit in that section grab em fast.
The season runs through April…Hope to see you all at a game!
Go Warriors!
